We are very sorry that we did not get to The Congleton Newspaper last week.
We are hoping, even though we are going to the beach, that we will be able to get

New York City
By Audrey

This coming week, the Congleton family is going to New York City! Along with our cousins from Arizona and Grandma Kline. We are VERY excited. We plan on staying in a hotel in New Jersey. We most likely will take the subway to and from New York City. We plan on staying for three days and two nights. We will be gone from Tuesday to Thursday. We can NOT wait to see our cousins from Arizona that we haven’t seen for quite a while.

Today in History
From http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history

On this day in 1977, Memorial Day weekend opens with an intergalactic bang as the first of George Lucas' blockbuster Star Wars movies hits American theaters.
The incredible success of Star Wars--it received seven Oscars, and earned $461 million in U.S. ticket sales and a gross of close to $800 million worldwide--began with an extensive, coordinated marketing push by Lucas and his studio, 20th Century Fox, months before the movie's release date. "It wasn't like a movie opening," actress Carrie Fisher, who played rebel leader Princess Leia, later told Time magazine. "It was like an earthquake." Beginning with--in Fisher's words--"a new order of geeks, enthusiastic young people with sleeping bags," the anticipation of a revolutionary movie-watching experience spread like wildfire, causing long lines in front of movie theaters across the country and around the world.
With its groundbreaking special effects, Star Wars leaped off screens and immersed audiences in "a galaxy far, far away." By now everyone knows the story, which followed the baby-faced Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) as he enlisted a team of allies--including hunky Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and the robots C3PO and R2D2--on his mission to rescue the kidnapped Princess Leia from an Evil Empire governed by Darth Vader. The film made all three of its lead actors overnight stars, turning Fisher into an object of adoration for millions of young male fans and launching Ford's now-legendary career as an action-hero heartthrob.
Star Wars was soon a bona-fide pop culture phenomenon. Over the years it has spawned five more feature films, five TV series and an entire industry's worth of comic books, toys, video games and other products. Two big-screen sequels, The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and The Return of the Jedi (1983), featured much of the original cast and enjoyed the same success--both critical and commercial--as the first film. In 1999, Lucas stretched back in time for the fourth installment, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, chronologically a prequel to the original movie. Two other prequels, Attack of the Clones (2002) and Revenge of the Sith (2005) followed.
The latter Star Wars movies featured a new cast--including Ewan McGregor, Liam Neeson, Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen--and have generally failed to earn the same amount of critical praise as the first three films. They continue to score at the box office, however, with Revenge of the Sith becoming the top-grossing film of 2005 in the United States and the second worldwide.

Beach Day Trips
By Audrey

Last year we went on a day trip to the beach one day in each month of the summer. We invited some friends and they were LOTS of fun. :D We are planning on doing the same this year. Normally how we do it is, we wake up around 5:00 or 5:30 AM and meet somewhere, like McDonalds, at 6:00 and leave to go to the beach. We go to Delaware Seashore State Park so it takes about three or four hours to get there. Once we get there we stay at the beach for as long as everybody wants. And sometimes we go to the boardwalk. We normally pack a lunch, and eat out for dinner. Then after dinner, we drive back home and normally we get home at around 11:00 or 12:00 PM. This year we’re going on the dates, June 9th, July 14th and August 18th. If you have a ride, you are more than welcome to come with us on one of these days!

Thank You!

Thanks for taking the time to read our newspaper! We really hope you enjoyed it. If you could write us a article this week that would be awesome! Contact us at thecongletonnewspaper@gmail.com. Thanks

Overview of the school year
By: Anna Congleton
Wow! Can’t believe the school year is over already!! Abby made it through her first year of high school, Anna made it through 7th grade, Audrey made it through 5th grade, and Jack finished 2nd grade. This year we tried out a new co-op called LTC we all really enjoyed it! We also did TOG which was a lot of work for everyone, but served us well. We will not be doing TOG again next year but we will be doing LTC. Jack, we have really seen you grow in reading, writing and math skills this year!

For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both present, and the life to come.

Hershey Park
By: Audrey Congleton
This whole month is a homeschool month at Hershey Park this year, so we decided to go with the Butlers. We were planning on going last Thursday the 17th, but the Butlers couldn’t get tickets for that day, so we decided to go on the 24th. A few of us were bummed at first but I think it will all work out well. Jack, is ALMOST a Twizzler, he just needs 1 more inch on him. But if he is not a Twizzler, than he’s not going to be able to go on very many of the roller coasters, so we told him to wear his tall sneakers and hopefully he will be a Twizzler. Audrey, Anna, Abby, Dad and Mom are all going to be Jolly Ranchers. We can’t wait till we go.

Be strong and brave. Do not be terrified. Do not lose hope. I am the Lord your God. I will be with you everywhere you go.

Creation Festival
By Audrey Congleton
Lately there has been much confusion going around about Creation Festival. Is Mrs. Althoff going? How are we getting there? Are we getting a group site? Who’s going? As of right now (things may change) Mrs. Althoff is MOST likely able to come. Well, if Mrs. Althoff comes, then getting there isn’t an issue. No we are not getting a group site, however we are still all going together. Sarah and Nathan Wright, Isaac, Isabella and Iris Martin, Stephanie Leouternou, Katey Althoff and Mrs. Althoff, Rachel, Jeremy and Mr. Willman, and our whole family are all the people that are going as of right now. Many of us were shocked that Skillet is not going. They usually end out the whole thing but, now that they are not coming Switchfoot is. We are all VERY excited about this year’s Creation Festival. We should all be praying for everyone that is going on this trip, and for everyone just to be touched and met by God.

Missions Trip
By: Anna Congleton
This summer Anna and John have the opportunity to go on a short term missions trip to Honduras. They are super excited to see how God works through them in Honduras. They will be staying at Orphanage Emmanuel for 10 days then going to our friends the Zell's house for 2 days. They just got their passports, they have sent out support letters, they have been praying, and have been getting to know the team better at the meetings. If you could be praying for them as they are raising money and preparing for this trip that would be awesome!

Thank you!
